People around Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia reportedly believed that he's ready for the next step in his career amid links to Leeds United.

According to Give Me Sport journalist Dean Jones, a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window is very much on the cards.

Everton are believed to be the other club keen on securing the 26-year-old Senegal international's services.

Leeds United

Jones said, "He’s exciting and he was always going to be one of the players expected to be a breakout from the World Cup.

“He’s very confident, he’s got a lot of belief in himself, the people around him believe that he is ready for the next step in his career and that the Premier League is possible, so it would make sense to me that Leeds and Everton should be seriously looking at him right now.“

Snap him up

Leeds desperately need a striker in the January transfer window and Dia seems like a very attainable option.

In the past, the Whites have targeted players that were never likely to prioritise moving there and that's not the case for the Senegal striker.

He will treat a move to Elland Road as a step up and would look to prove himself from day one.

He's also at the right age where he's very close to but not near his prime so he's likely to improve for a couple of years and be at the top of his game for a while after that.

We'll be surprised if Leeds do not pursue this one seriously as he would add a much-needed goal threat and be someone who can play week in and week out.

He has even been compared to former Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane - whose place he appears to have taken in the Senegal side.
