Leeds United now have no time to waste if they want to sign Ryan Kent after Dutch journalist Dennie van Laar has urged Ajax to make a move for him.

Since the attacker first made his move to Rangers, he’s been linked with a switch to West Yorkshire.

In every summer transfer window, it’s felt like there has always been a point where his name has cropped up on the Whites' potential shortlists.

The same even happened this summer before his contract was terminated by Fenerbahce [Haber Ekspres, 7 August].

Once called “sensational” by Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool ECHO) it feels like the 28-year-old still has a lot left to give in his career.

Speaking on Voetbal Primeur's #DoneDeal Podcast (15 November), Van Laar shared why he thinks the Englishman would be a good candidate for Ajax to target.

"Ryan Kent is a real opportunity. He is a really good player. A lot of speed, quite two-footed and a hard kick," he said.

"His contract with Fenerbahçe has been terminated. He is an incredibly fit guy by nature, although I understand that that is something different than match rhythm".

Why Leeds United should sign Ryan Kent

Not only would the former Liverpool man be able to come in on a free transfer but his experience would likely also help Farke’s men achieve their promotion goals this term.

Indeed, Manor Solomon and Largie Ramazani were both brought in over the summer to replace Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter but the fact that the termination of Solomon’s loan is already being rumoured shows how things are going.

Prior to his injury, the Israel international was one of Leeds’ most important players with Neil Redfearn even saying he was too good for the Championship.

Since his return, things haven’t gone quite to plan and aside from his international performances, he’s left a lot to be desired.

Kent could slot right into Solomon’s role and provide yet another attacking option for the West Yorkshire outfit.

These are all just rumours of course but on paper, it feels like a move that makes plenty of sense.
