Leeds United are reportedly in the lead to secure the services of Torino defender Ola Aina in the January transfer window.

According to Tuttosport [6 January], the Nigeria international is destined to return to the Premier League, after spells with Chelsea and Fulham (on loan).

He was at Chelsea for four years before leaving Stamford Bridge permanently for Turin and he now appears keen on returning to the United Kingdom.

Not needed

Leeds have pressing issues in other areas of the pitch and signing a full-back is definitely not one of them.

They've got three senior right-backs and just signed a new left-back in Max Wober so the Aina signing will make little to no sense.

If he was an upgrade on Rasmus Kristensen and Cody Drameh was guaranteed to leave, we could see Victor Orta pursuing a move for him.

However, the Nigerian would only be a squad player and it's not worth entering a transfer saga for him in January when the funds need to be allocated towards a striker.

Signing a left-back was a priority and now that it's been done we're expecting to see some progress in their quest to land a striker.

It remains to be seen if the board can be proactive for a change or if they're likely to wait until the final days before they amplify their pursuit for a major transfer.
