Leeds United have no finances to seal new transfer before deadline, loans possible - David Ornstein

David Ornstein has reported that Leeds United don't have any finances available to complete any permanent moves before the deadline on Thursday (September 1).

The Athletic journalist has insisted that any new arrivals may need to be through the loan market at Elland Road, but even they are unlikely to be a left-back.

It is shared that of the names he has heard recently, they are more in the midfield and attacking thirds to strengthen Jesse Marsch's squad.

Speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast, Ornstein shared what noises he has heard coming from Elland Road in the recent days ahead of the deadline.

"Everything we're hearing from Leeds is that there is no finance available now to do further incoming business," he said.

"If they were to, I presume it would have to be a loan. I don't know of anything being imminent, I've heard a few names around the midfield/attack department, haven't heard so much as recently at left-back."

Lied to?

So, have we been cruising along for weeks now while the club knew that there was no chance of anything really being done in the latter stages of the window?

It certainly looks that way and it has been awfully quiet compared to usual windows where Leeds are linked with every last player under the sun every single hour of the day.

Victor Orta will have a list of players ready to go, but only if they somewhat become available, as we have seen in recent years with Dan James and Raphinha.

Leeds have seen more concrete links with exits rather than incomings recently, but we cannot allow anyone to leave with the likes of Jack Harrison and James under the microscope.

What is worst is that we were one or two players away from building a brilliant squad and the perfect window, and although it has still been successful, it could have been even better.

Something tells us the reaction to this one will drag on for quite some time with more questions than answers.
