Leeds United have found their next Tony Yeboah after U21s' antics vs Middlesbrough

Leeds United may be on their way to developing the next Tony Yeboah at Thorp Arch.

The Whites have many talented youngsters within their ranks, but attackers are one area that looks to be the strongest.

Their U21s side drew 4-4 with Middlesbrough in a Premier League 2 thriller on Sunday, throwing away a 3-0 lead.

The game saw Ilia Gruev make a return to action, where he even picked up an assist for youngster Freddie Lane, who scored the fourth goal.

However, despite the defensive issues, their attack was clearly on top form, and so was one man in particular.

Carrick Njinko scored a quickfire brace against Boro, and his record for Leeds' U21s speaks for itself.

Leeds were three goals to the good against Middlesbrough's U21s after 30 minutes, with Harvey Vincent opening up the scoring, before two goals for Njinko in the 29th and 30th minutes.

The 17-year-old's first goal came with a precise header, as he swept in a left-footed strike for his second.

Njinko has started the season on fire, initially bagging three goals in a 4-3 win over West Brom's U21s, before scoring in a 2-1 loss to Liverpool the following week.

He grabbed an assist in a 3-2 National League Cup victory over Solihull Moors, but was also sent off in the match.

Interestingly, he was substituted off at the break against Middlesbrough, potentially with a game against Newcastle in mind for Saturday.

Yeboah averaged a goal in just under every two games for Leeds, and that's where Njinko's record is going now.

He has six goals and an assist in only seven games this season, and is looking to continue his form for the U21s.

Perhaps the striker can make the step up to the Premier League for Daniel Farke's team and have an effect at Elland Road like Yeboah once did.

Scott Gardner was given plenty of food for thought with some of the performances against Boro.

But once man in particular played another game of his trial with the Whites' U21s.

That is Roman Egan-Riley, brother of Marseille star CJ Egan-Riley.

The centre-back has now featured four times for the Whites this season after leaving Burnley's setup earlier in the year.

He spent only one season at Burnley after playing for Tottenham's U21s previously.

After conceding four goals, Egan-Riley may struggle to make his case for a contract at Leeds.
