Leeds United are certainly going strong under Daniel Farke, with the Whites currently sitting fourth in the Championship table.

The manager may, however, want to strengthen his squad ahead of a huge couple of months for the club as they look to get back to the big time.

And that strengthening could come at the very back in the form of a new goalkeeper, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting on Tuesday (16 January) that Leeds are in pole position to sign Spezia’s Bartlomej Dragowski.

The publication did, however, specify that the Whites must first formalise the sale of current number one Illan Meslier to land the Spezia man.

But even if Meslier was to depart Elland Road, it seems that a move for Dragowski is now unlikely, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting on Wednesday (17 January) that the Spezia shot-stopper is close to joining Panathinaikos, with negotiations ongoing between the two clubs.

That is certainly a blow to Farke and Leeds had they been seriously interested in bringing Dragowski to Elland Road this month.

The man in the dugout will not be wanting too many January transfer setbacks, with Farke instead keen to focus on continuing to put points on the board.

Having a top goalkeeper is key to that, but the German can at least relax when it comes to the other end of the pitch, with his attackers in fine form.

Up next for Farke and his men is a test with Preston North End, with Elland Road hosting that Championship clash on Sunday (21 January).
