Leeds United will miss out on automatic promotion to the Premier League at the hands of Leicester City and Ipswich Town, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Daniel Farke's side currently sit third in the Championship, one point behind Kieran McKenna's Tractor Boys and Enzo Maresca's Foxes who sit top on goal difference and have a game in hand of the chasing pack.

While talkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor believes the Whites will miss out on an immediate return to the top flight, he has admitted that he expects Leeds to win promotion this term through the playoffs instead.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday (10 April, 18:51) he said: "I just think that the way Ipswich are playing and their late winners, I think they've got that team spirit to get up and I think if Leeds don't come up in the top two, they'll win the playoffs.

"They're a very strong side, but I fancy Leicester and Ipswich to come up."

Will Leeds United win promotion to the Premier League ahead of Ipswich and Leicester?

The race at the top of the Championship couldn't be much closer and it does feel like none of the three teams fighting it out for automatic promotion want to win the title as they repeatedly drop points week in and week out.

Leeds have shown at times this term that they are capable of beating anybody that they'll face in England's second tier, but the last few weeks have seen them take their foot off of the gas slightly and lose a tiny bit of ground.

However, one or two wins will change that completely. They know that if they win every game between now and the end of the season they will have done all that they can to book their place in the automatic slots.

Whether Farke's side will have the energy and drive to go again in the playoffs if they do miss out remains to be seen. But as Agbonlahor suggested, on paper, Leeds have what it takes to win promotion one way or another.
