Daniel Farke screamed at Archie Gray when the Leeds United midfielder opted to go forward rather than sit back during the shock 1-0 defeat to Blackburn at Elland Road.

This is according to Graham Smyth via X who explained that the boss was "desperate" to avoid risking being caught on the counter-attack as Leeds piled on the pressure throughout.

Sammie Szmodics's eventual winning goal came in the 82nd minute of the game as he was left in far too much space to finish - for which criticism could also be levelled at Gray.

The 1-0 defeat was a terrible result for Leeds despite what looked to be a dominant performance in terms of their own play - restricting Blackburn's opportunities and creating plenty of themselves despite their lack of a clinical finisher in front of goal.

Coming the day after Leicester also fell to a shock defeat against Plymouth, Leeds have fumbled yet another opportunity to stake their claim to the Championship title, with Ipswich now given the chance to become front-runners.

The first defeat at Elland Road all season, and the second consecutive game in which they have failed to score at home, will come as a concern to Leeds fans who have seen their club crumble at this stage of the season far too many times before.

With the three teams fighting for just two automatic promotion places from the Championship, one will be forced into the playoffs and as things stand, that team will be Farke's Leeds.

They need to take opportunities like this and have failed to do so again.
