Evan Ferguson will not move to Leeds United in the upcoming transfer window, according to Don Goodman.

The West Yorkshire club are interested in the Brighton striker in January [The Scotsman, 19 December], but suggestions of him coming to the Championship have been shut down.

Goodman believes the 20-year-old would be a perfect fit at the Whites but feels it would be logical for the striker to move to another Premier League outfit.

Speaking to Football League World [19 December], the Sky Sports pundit said: "Yes, I do think Evan Ferguson would be the perfect addition to Leeds United or Sunderland. But do I think he'll end up in the Championship? No, I don't.

"Just 18 months ago, he was being lauded as a £100 million player. So I can't see him playing in the Championship, no matter how big a club is.

"If a loan move is an option for him, you'd suggest a loan move to another Premier League club would be logical, as long as he gets minutes, which is key for him. Perhaps he could move to Europe."

Leeds United set for perfect Evan Ferguson transfer?

The Peacocks are one of the favourites for promotion from the Championship this season.

Daniel Farke has done an impressive job since making his way to Elland Road, especially this season with all the injury issues that he's had to deal with.

Although the German manager initially lost some key players, he has managed to keep the Whites in second place after 21 games.

Leeds could certainly do with a reliable goalscorer in their ranks, with Mateo Joseph still too young to take the mantle and Patrick Bamford possibly on his way out after losing his place in the starting lineup.

Joel Piroe has found the back of the net the most for the West Yorkshire club in the current campaign, but the Dutchman clearly needs support in the attack.

Ferguson's arrival would surely guarantee promotion to the Premier League for the Whites, but it's unlikely.

The West Yorkshire club could have a realistic chance of pursuing the 20-year-old next season if top-flight football returns to Elland Road.
