It’s been a tough 2020 but the single scariest moment was the first quarter of the game against Man City. Rodrigo will be the saviour this season.

Rodrigo De Paul is the Leeds United transfer story that's just refused to go away.

It's perhaps not surprising after the player himself said he wanted to come to Leeds on social media, in the midst of a string of strong reports linking him with a move to Elland Road last summer.

With the next summer window approaching, the stories have started appearing again, with the latest stating that Leeds and Liverpool are in the 'first row' for his signature.

However, we can pretty much categorically rule out anything happening now.

Leeds chief Angus Kinnear was asked about De Paul on the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show. The news isn't good for De Paul lovers.

"If it wasn’t for listening to The Square Ball I don’t think I’d have heard his name ever," Kinnear joked.

"Which gives you an insight into how far along we are in the discussions.

"If we had the money I think we’d buy him just to shut you guys up," he joked, before saying, "I don’t think that one has any legs."

So that's a no

So, is Rodrigo De Paul going to be a Leeds player this summer? The answer to that is, unfortunately, no.

Will that stop multiple reports springing up linking him with an 'imminent' move to Leeds? Again, sadly, not.

We will report stories that come from legitimate sources but we think we can safely say that it's just not going to happen.

It's a shame but it's the line that's constantly come back from Leeds ever since it was revealed that the club's valuation of him didn't match up with Udinese's asking price.

A stellar season in Serie A hasn't been enough, seemingly, to change Leeds' mind about that.

We do think that De Paul will move this summer and it could be that he ends up moving to a big club and that Leeds could live to regret not signing him when they had the chance.

However, as always with these things, we trust in Bielsa and the process at Leeds. It hasn't let us down yet.
