Chelsea ace Carney Chukwuemeka has reached out to Leeds United youngster Mateo Joseph after the striker scored twice against the Blues in the 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Joseph took to Instagram following the game as he wrote: "Proud of the team’s hard work and effort. We bow out of this competition with our heads held high. An unforgettable night I will always remember."

The Blues midfielder replied to Joseph's post, simply with three fire emojis in praise of the performance of the Leeds striker.

Having scored his first senior goal, and quickly following it up with a second in West London, Joseph may now be hoping to retain his place in the starting XI when Leeds face Huddersfield.

Joseph has been roundly praised for his impressive step up after earning increased senior minutes under the guidance of Daniel Farke, and after his two goals against Chelsea, his confidence will be sky-high.

At just 20 years old, scoring his first senior goals against Premier League opposition will provide both Joseph and Leeds with a huge boost and evidence that he can cut it in the first team when called upon.

The likes of Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe have often been called upon in place of Joseph in the number nine position given their experience and pedigree at Championship level, but with that display, the youngster may have moved ahead of the queue.

Particularly given what was a disappointing display from Piroe while Joseph shone at Stamford Bridge, he may be one for Farke to keep an eye on in his future squad selections.

Having received praise from plenty, including Chukwuemeka, Leeds legend Luke Ayling, and Liverpool youngster Jarell Quansah, it will now be key for the striker to look to continue his strong run of form and keep impressing.
