Leeds United have agreed a deal with Tottenham to bring Wales international centre-back Joe Rodon to Elland Road on a season-long loan, according to Mike McGrath.

The Telegraph journalist shared the news via his personal Twitter account, also reporting that the formalities of the deal are set to be finalised in the coming days after the initial agreement was found between the clubs.

Rodon will arrive at Elland Road in the wake of an injury to captain Liam Cooper, with the squad desperately in need of depth at centre-back with that absence leaving them short.

Another shrewd piece of business

Since 49ers Enterprises took over the club, their business has been smart and shrewd in the transfer market, with the four incoming players, Ethan Ampadu, Karl Darlow, Sam Byram and now Rodon arriving at a total cost of around £7.5million.

The reporting of this deal typifies what the owners are trying to do, as there had been little to no rumours of Leeds' interest before all of a sudden the player is in the final stages of talks to join the club, much like we saw with their deal for Ethan Ampadu.

Rodon arrives at Elland Road following a spell on loan with Stade Rennais in the French Ligue 1, where he made 16 appearances. The Welshman impressed with his confidence on the ball and aerial ability.

His calm presence and style on the ball will see him slot straight into the way Daniel Farke wants to set up his side; dominate possession and build through the thirds, and suffocate teams with their build-up play.

He has Championship experience under his belt already, having impressed with Swansea City over the space of two years between 2018 and 2020, which earned him the move to Spurs.
