Courtney Sweetman-Kirk slammed Leeds United for their "absolutely terrible" defending in Friday's (23 February) victory over Leicester City.

Leeds found themselves a goal down when Patson Daka thought he had scored a second, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

That was one of many instances of United struggling defensively prior to their incredible late comeback to win 3-1 at Elland Road.

Sweetman-Kirk, who also works as a pundit for Sky Sports, said on talkSPORT [23 February, 9:20pm]: "They're wobbling.

"The marking and game intelligence from corners is absolutely terrible. The mismatch is unreal."

Leeds overcome Leicester in Elland Road thriller

Leeds were perhaps fortunate not to have been a couple of goals down, with replays showing Daka was not offside.

The defending was poor, with Joel Piroe nowhere near Jannik Vestergaard and Georginio Rutter also failing to clear the ball.

That let-off proved truly massive for the Whites as they struck three times in the final final 10 minutes to snatch an unlikely victory.

Leeds have been superb defensively this campaign, so this was clearly just an off-day - and in the end it did not matter one bit.

Daniel James helped inspire Leeds United to victory over Leicester City.

Daniel Farke will no doubt take lessons from the match, but Leeds ultimately got the job done yet again to equal a club record winning run.

Even when not playing anywhere near their best, this Leeds side are still able to overcome the top side in the division.

That, it must be said, is the sign of a team heading for the Premier League.
