Leeds expecting written reasons behind Pascal Struijk appeal denial

Phil Hay has shared that the FA and PGMOL will be giving their written reason behind denying the Leeds United appeal for Pascal Struijk.

The young defender will now miss games against Newcastle, Fulham and West Ham after he was shown red for that tackle on Harvey Elliott.

Craig Pawson didn't give a foul initially, but it has since been shared that he was going to always give a red card - something which doesn't appear possible.

Speaking on the Phil Hay Show, the journalist shared that the PGMOL need to give their side of the story to explain matters further.

"We will get written reasons for this at some stage," he said.

"We will get more insight into that. I think that's something we definitely need to talk about, how it was that Pawson went from awarding no foul and waving play on, to giving Struijk a red card."

Inexplicable.

That is what the decision was labelled by Andrea Radrizzani after it was made, and it is hard for anyone to argue with that.

Struijk got the ball, there was no foul given or even stoppage in play until the injury was discovered, but here is Pawson saying it was always a red card.

That appears to be someone trying to cover their own back, despite the ball being in Liverpool's final third before the whistle was blown.

Leeds will be expecting some good reasoning behind this decision, and more than "endangering" the player and that it was "always" a red card.

Both of those reasonings would contradict Pawson, who didn't blow for a foul at any stage until Mo Salah urged him across.

This isn't a good look for anyone.
