Klopp comments on potential of starlet linked with Leeds leaving Liverpool in January
Leeds United recently made an approach to take Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones on loan, according to Football Insider.
The report suggested that the Reds knocked back the offer after the midfielder's display in the FA Cup against Everton persuaded them into a U-turn on his future.
There could be other reasons behind the reported rejection though, with Jurgen Klopp commenting on Jones and the potential of him and other youngsters leaving Anfield in January.
Klopp was asked what the chances were of players such as Jones following Rhian Brewster out on loan on Friday morning, to which he responded with a straightforward answer.
"You could send them out to a club, where you hope they can get games under their belts," he said, via Sky Sports [10/01, 10:37 am].
"But, again they have games here in the 23s, and they have outstanding, high-quality training sessions here, so we make these decisions person by person, player by player.
"For Rhian, it was the right thing to do. The boys need to find a manager, in the best possible way, who knows them already.
"The others? I don't see, in this moment, anybody who would benefit more from a loan spell than from staying with us."
Klopp makes a fair point and the facilities and training at Liverpool are second to none.
However, in Bielsa, Leeds have a manager who makes it his business to know players he wants to bring in, inside out.
The Argentinian is known for his scouting and analysis, something which has seen him go the extra mile. Everybody remembers his famous press conference last year after Spygate was brought to light.
Eagled-eyed supporters noticed documents and a long video on Daniel James as Bielsa familiarised himself with his target, another bit of proof he would know Jones very well before making an approach to bring him in.
However, if there was any doubt, this has all but confirmed that Leeds will not be bringing in Jones to Elland Road this month.
