Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is set to seal a loan exit to Elche this week, according to David Anderson.

The Mirror journalist shared that there should be a permanent exit included in the deal for the Spaniard.

Casilla has failed to return to pre-season training at Thorp Arch this week, as his whirlwind spell in West Yorkshire is coming to an end.

Anderson shared the major update on Friday, and it was one that was appreciated by the Leeds fans in the comments.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, the journalist shared that the Spanish side will confirm the permanent deal if Casilla agrees too.

"Kiko Casilla is leaving Leeds to join Elche on a season-long loan deal," he wrote.

"He and Elche will have the option to make the move permanent next summer if both are in agreement."

Time to go.

It is certainly the right time for Casilla to leave.

After Marcelo Bielsa handed the Spaniard the starting spot for the final two Premier League games last season, it felt like a farewell.

Casilla has never been on the side of the fans, especially after being found guilty of racist abuse a couple of years ago.

The keeper is set to free up some big wages too, with there still being more than one year on his £30,000-a-week salary [Football Insider].

Illan Meslier will be the number one for a long time to come at Elland Road, but it may not stop Victor Orta from bringing in a permanent replacement.

Experience may be key, as it will help the Frenchman develop - Orta will already be looking for the man to step in.
