Karl Robinson shares ‘relentless’ Leeds United Championship verdict after Premier League relegation
Former Leeds United assistant manager Karl Robinson believes the club must bring in players capable of playing in the “relentless” Championship.
Robinson left with manager Sam Allardyce after the Whites were relegated from the Premier League.
They dropped down to the Championship following a 4-1 home defeat to Tottenham on the final day of the campaign.
“The big thing for me is that the Championship is relentless,” Robinson said live on talkSPORT. “It really is.
“I don’t think people truly understand how difficult that level is. They are going to have to bring in players that are robust to compete at that.
“They’ll have to bring in people who understand and want to work with what the club already has, which has some very, very good players.”
Huge task
Leeds had it tough in the Premier League this season, with the Whites finishing 19th in the table with just seven wins from their 38 matches.
They struggled throughout the majority of the campaign, with a poor defence really giving them very little chance of staying up from the very off.
Unfortunately for the club, things won’t get any easier in the hugely competitive Championship, as the Whites will be all too aware of.
They have been in a similar situation before, but this time around they do not have a manager or director of football, with the ownership of the club also up in the air.
It is a difficult period for this famous outfit, but they cannot wallow in self-pity, with these issues needing to be sorted out sooner rather than later if they are to have any hope of immediately bouncing back to the top flight.
