Josuha Guilavogui gets Daniel Farke approval at Leeds United amid latest development

Dan Bardell believes Daniel Farke approved a deal for Josuha Guilavogui at Leeds United as he knows him from his time in Germany.

The Whites confirmed the signing of the versatile defensive midfielder on a free transfer on Wednesday 23 October.

This deal came after links to the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate and Francis Coquelin didn't amount to anything, in an attempt to cover for injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the ex-France international signed due to approval from Farke, building on knowledge from his time in the Bundesliga.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: "They wanted something in the midfield area, that is clear.

"He's a player, from looking at his history in Germany, that Daniel Farke knows or has been aware of which is a good thing because it means he has the manager's approval.

"Leeds needed to do something in the midfield so I don't think it can be accused of being a panic signing, they're were just in a difficult situation."

It was a major blow for Farke to lose his two starting midfielders within the space of a week, leaving his squad very light in the middle of the pitch.

Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka have done well to fill the void but without them, an academy product like Charlie Crew becomes the next best available option.

This would prove to be a massive risk for the Whites so bringing in Guilavogui, as somebody with years of experience, makes sense for all parties.

Plenty of options were considered at Elland Road with the Frenchman the selected option which shows that the manager has faith in his abilities and what he can add to the squad.
