Leeds United defender Jayden Bogle only has a dead leg after hobbling off against Valencia, manager Daniel Farke has said.

LeedsLive reporter Beren Cross posted on X (3 August) to state that Farke doesn't expect Bogle to miss next week's Championship opener against Portsmouth, having initially been worried about his right-back.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported in their live blog of the match that Bogle's issue looked to be with his knee, "hobbling a bit" as he made his way off the pitch an hour into United's 2-1 pre-season victory at Elland Road.

Bogle only signed for the club from Sheffield United in a £5million deal last month, and a possible knee injury will be a cause for concern as Daniel Farke's side prepare for the season opener on 10 August.

Jayden Bogle injury update is good news for Leeds United

Given the number two shirt worn for eight seasons by Luke Ayling at Elland Road, Bogle is expected to be the Whites' first-choice right-back throughout the upcoming campaign.

Farke being worried about a lack of options at full-back showcases the need for the Whites to add at least another body in this area of the pitch, following several high-profile departures.

Bogle, an out-and-out right-back, has been bought to provide the attacking runs forward that were lacking down that side last season, with Archie Gray playing out of his natural position most weeks.

Natural midfielder Gray being sold to Tottenham for £40m opened up a gap that Bogle will fill for the Whites, and Farke will certainly be glad that his dead leg against Valencia doesn't seem to be serious.

While Byram proved an able stand-in for either Gray or left-back Junior Firpo last season, he also doesn't have the raw pace Bogle and Firpo possess, to essentially play as an extra winger.

Farke will hope that Bogle is fit and firing ahead of United's first Championship match against Portsmouth in a week's time, and not risking him further against Valencia could prove to be a wise move.
