Leeds United attacker Jack Harrison will certainly be fuming after Gareth Southgate announced his England squad for the upcoming Nations League games.

To the surprise of many, Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish and out of form West Ham player Jarrod Bowen made the cut ahead of the 25-year-old.

Harrison has started the season strongly, after being involved in four goals and assists in six Premier League games.

Southgate does not have a left-footed winger in his squad who's good at set pieces and is capable of playing on either flank.

Given Harrison's energy, he could also be deployed as a wing-back - giving the Three Lions manager a Swiss army knife.

Unlike most of the attackers he's picked, the Leeds star can also offer something on the defensive side of things - giving his relentless engine and pressing ability.

Nobody is calling for him to make the World Cup squad, but the fact that Southgate has overlooked him over players not in form is shocking.

This may be Harrison's best chance to prove that he deserves to play a major tournament for his country and nobody knows how good he'll be two years later when it's time for the EUROs.

Southgate may end up regretting this as Harrison looks like he's going to have his best season ever while some of the other attackers are struggling to get playing time, let alone goals and assists.
