Marcelo Bielsa is climbing the ladder of legendary managers to have taken charge of Leeds United during his short reign in charge of the club.

Howard Wilkinson and Don Revie remain miles in front, but the South American has grabbed the attention of many up and down the country.

Wilkinson has recently commented on Bielsa's reign at Elland Road and has revealed what he has heard about the squad working under him in West Yorkshire.

"He intrigues me," Wilkinson told talkSPORT.

"At the end of the day what matters is how do the players react, and from what I hear the players react well to him.

"Players have changed; it used to be that they were footballers, and now we recognise football is what they do, it is not who they are. It seems to me he is concerned with who they are as well as what they do."

Wilkinson was in charge of the Whites at the beginning of the 1990s and secured back-to-back titles back in Division One and Two.

That was the last outright leagues Leeds managed to win, with promotion to the Championship under Simon Grayson the last trophy they won.

It is clear that the Leeds squad have improved and taken on board everything asked of them by Bielsa. That has translated into their performances on the pitch, and hopefully, that will lead them to promotion at the end of the season - something Wilkinson is hoping for as well.
