How the Welsh media reacted to Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu in Denmark loss
Leeds United's Ethan Ampadu once again started in Wales' loss to Denmark on Sunday evening.
The midfielder saw his country lose 1-0 to Denmark in the Nations League, which was his side's last game of the international break.
The 26-year-old is a key player for Daniel Farke, as the German head coach will be hoping his captain comes back to Thorp Arch fully fit.
Dan James was rested on the bench for the full game, but Ampadu saw out his fourth 90-minute match for Wales already this break.
After Rasmus Hojilund's strike, Craig Bellamy's side sit third in Group 4 and are at risk of failing to qualify for the knockout stages.
However, Ampadu has picked up great reviews from the Welsh media despite the loss, which will be music to the ears of Leeds officials.
How the Welsh media reacted to Ethan Ampadu vs Denmark
Ampadu made eight defensive contributions against Denmark, making four tackles, two blocks, two clearances and five recoveries.
He won four ground duels and two aerial duels in the game, also completing five accurate long-ball passes.
The former Chelsea youth star had a passing accuracy of 83 per cent, as his performance earned the praise of the Welsh media once again.
Wales Online gave Ampadu an 8/10 rating and their 'star man' pick, writing: "So composed on the ball, and mopped up superbly on the edge of his own area.
"No player made more tackles on the night, and he also made a few interventions that broke up some promising Denmark moves."
Y Clwb Pel Droad gave him a 7/10 rating and wrote: "Another strong performance in midfield from the Leeds United man, who helped dictate the tempo while consistently putting out fires across the pitch."
Ampadu earned an overall 7.0 FotMob rating for his performance, and he is now set to come back to LS11 following his country's games.
What Leeds have learnt after Wales' international games
Farke will be glad to see the back of the international break for Ampadu and James.
Youngster Jayden Lienou also made the squad against Denmark for the first time this international break, but was unable to get onto the pitch
The left-back may first need a loan move away from Elland Road to pick up some senior minutes before being trusted for Wales on an international level.
Ampadu looks likely to play every minute possible for the Dragons in an important game, but thankfully, there have been no reports to suggest that he has picked up any fitness worries.
James can be dropped by Bellamy and was against Denmark, though Leeds won't be too bothered considering his injury history.
