How Tarik Muharemovic 'stopped the unstoppable' as Bosnian media react to Leeds star's display vs Sweden
Leeds United defender Tarik Muharemovic once again starred for Bosnia & Herzegovina on Friday night in a respectable 1-1 draw against Sweden.
Viktor Gyokeres found the back of the net for Sweden in the 61st minute, setting up what looked like a fairly routine victory for Graham Potter's side.
Sweden enjoyed the majority of the attacking play and chances up until that point, where Bosnia started to push for an equaliser in front of the home crowd in Zenica.
And that eventually came in the 80th minute when Juventus' Kerim Alajbegovic scored his third international goal.
Muharmovic had to cope with a lot of pressure from Sweden throughout the game.
But how did the Leeds centre-back perform on the night?
Why Tarik Muharemovic won over Bosnian media yet again
It was a good result for Bosnia & Herzegovina and Muharemovic was once again a vital cog in the performance.
SOP awarded Muharemovic a 6.8 rating, meaning that while he wasn't at his absolute best, he was still good enough to help Bosnia get a point.
The Bosnian news outlet said that he and Nikola Katic "did a good job in the back line", however, "Sweden managed to create problems for the Bosnian defence at certain times of the match".
But it seems that when problems were caused, Muharemovic was there to dig his side out of trouble with Klix raving about an intervention made on Alexander Bernhardsson just before half-time.
"Bernhardsson was on an unstoppable run, and then he came across Tarik Muharemovic, who knocked him out of the game with a fantastic reaction," said the Klix live commentary.
Stats by Sofascore show that Muharemovic made seven defensive contributions, including four clearances, one blocked shot and two recoveries.
While he won two of the three ground duels he was involved in, and also two of his three aerial duels, he failed to win either of the two tackles he attempted.
The ex-Sassuolo defender wasn't dribbled past, though, and also finished the game with an impressive 91 per cent pass accuracy - no player in the whole game was more accurate.
What Muharemovic said about the draw vs Sweden
As one of the star players in the side, Muharemovic was on media duties after the game.
Bosnia's next and final game of the international break is at home against Poland in Zenica on Monday night.
And the Leeds defender is super confident his side can come out on top, despite Poland beating Romania 6-0 on Friday.
"We should be very happy and focused on what we are doing, we should continue like that. We have a new game on Monday and we are going to win," he told Oslobodjenje.
Muharemovic was also asked if he has his sights on one day becoming the Bosnian captain.
He replied: "There are enough players here, Sead Kolasinac is our captain. It's a big dream of mine, but the most important thing for me is to play for Bosnia & Herzegovina"
