How Andy Burnham made his Leeds United feelings crystal clear before becoming Prime Minister
Andy Burnham does not appear to be overly fond of Leeds United if past comments that have surfaced are anything to go by.
The 56-year-old was this week ushered in as Keir Starmer's successor as Prime Minister.
Burnham's love of football is well known - as was Starmer's before him - having held an Everton season ticket for a number of years.
He also regularly comments on football matters on social media - or at least did so until landing the top job in British politics.
Burnham was clearly not afraid to share his views long before going on to become PM.
That includes a tweet from 2021 that has now resurfaced.

A lot can change in the space of a year, let alone five.
It seems like a lifetime ago now that supporters took to the streets to protest at plans from a greedy select to form a European Super League.
Liverpool were among those clubs and faced Leeds shortly after the news broke that would have changed football in this country forever, had the plans not been foiled.
Tweeting ahead of the match on his personal account on what is now known as X, Burnham said: "For the first time in the history of English football, every football supporter in the country is rooting for Leeds United."
The point being made was a rather simple one. He, nor anyone else, like to put their support behind Leeds on any normal occasion.
But this was different and Leeds very much did everyone a favour with the result at Elland Road that night.
What happened in Leeds' clash with Liverpool in 2021?
This was the first game contested by one of the 'breakaway' clubs upon the announcement being made.
Leeds players did their bit by wearing shirts that read "earn it", next to the Champions League logo, and "football is for the fans".
They then did their talking on the pitch as Diego Llorente scored a late leveller to earn a 1-1 draw, after Sadio Mane had earlier opened the scoring.
As we all know, nothing came of the proposal. But supporters do not forget, even more than five years on.
