Daniel Farke now has the January transfer window to worry about as Leeds United prepare to face Preston on Saturday.

The Whites have a chance to rise straight back to the top of the Championship table, though Sheffield United are unlikely to stumble against Wayne Rooney's struggling Plymouth Argyle side.

Leeds' battles with the Lilywhites over the years have been hard-fought, usually separated by one goal or one big moment, but Farke will be hoping his attacking talent can take all three points.

One of the club's best performers away from Elland Road this season is Sam Greenwood, who is currently on a season-long loan at Deepdale, although he will not be eligible to face his parent team on 14 December.

Of course, that will be a huge blow for Paul Heckingbottom and his team, given that they are trying to move away from the relegation zone and one of their best players is unavailable.

Luckily for Preston, it seems as though a decision has already been made about Greenwood's future ahead of the January transfer window, reading between the lines of Farke's latest comments.

Leeds United loanee Sam Greenwood to remain at Deepdale?

Having already dubbed him "important" to their Championship rivals, Farke said [LeedsLive]: "I am not a fan of sending out loans for a few months. They need a full year.

"I want them to develop their personality and fight against the odds if they are not playing. A proper year is important for development."

His quotes would suggest that Greenwood is set to stay with Preston for the second half of the season instead of adding another talented attacker to the Leeds squad during January.

Some supporters at Elland Road may be disappointed by that idea, having notched six goal contributions for an average Championship side this season, but it seems unlikely that a change will be made.
