Georginio Rutter was among those to respond to Willy Gnonto’s heartfelt message to Leeds United supporters on social media.

Rutter was a popular figure throughout his time at Elland Road before his multi-million-pound move to the Premier League, and his latest actions won’t do his reputation any harm.

Gnonto, in a personal message to supporters, said joining Leeds was a “dream” after reaching 100 appearances for the side, with Rutter sending a short but effective response alongside several other current and former Whites players.

In reply to Gnonto’s Instagram post [21 January], Rutter replied with a love heart emoji followed by a prayer emoji.

Willy Gnonto has taken the reigns of Rutter at Leeds United

Rutter, prior to his big-money move to Brighton, was a fan favourite at Elland Road and it came as little surprise to see him rewarded with a Premier League move.

His ability played a crucial role for Leeds not just in terms of goals and assists, but with his all-round play, and Gnonto has since taken on that responsibility.

With 12 goal contributions, the Italian has installed himself as a key figure at Elland Road, having just claimed his 100th appearance for the Whites in their 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

In his post, he admitted he wants to make many more memories in the future and it’s probably a fair guess to say that the feeling will be mutual among Leeds supporters as the club continue their push for promotion.

As things stand, the Whites sit pretty at the top of the Championship and Gnonto has certainly played his role in that success so far.
