Fulham fans were reportedly looking to unsettle Leeds United debutant Joe Gelhardt before he stepped up and scored a penalty for the Whites.

According to LeedsLive reporter Beren Cross, they screamed 'Who are ya!?' in his direction, but the 19-year-old remained unfazed by the noise.

He calmly stepped up and put the ball into the back of the net which proved to be a vital goal as the Whites ended up with yet another win from their trip to the capital.

Poised display

Gelhardt went into this game on the back of some impressive performances, most notably a two goal and one assist display against Liverpool U-23s a few days ago.

This led to some raising their eyebrows when Tyler Roberts was named in the starting eleven as the number nine, with Rodrigo playing behind him.

Roberts once again failed to impress and was taken off for Adam Forshaw in the 55th minute with the game still hanging in the balance.

Gelhardt, who came on in the 69th minute, did not have too much of a direct impact on proceedings and was a peripheral figure throughout the game.

However, when the onus was on him to step up and score, he did so, no questions asked, much to the delight of Marcelo Bielsa, who got his reward for showing faith in him.

Still only 19, Gelhardt has the potential to become a first-team player for Leeds in the future.
