Fabio Jalo's future is set to be decided in a "more clear way" during the months of December and January amid "links with Leeds United", according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported in his Daily Briefing on 9 November that the Barnsley teenager is not yet subject to any "concrete or advanced negotiations" but suggested that could change over the next two to three months.

Jalo has already scored three cup goals for the Oakwell club despite his young age after he netted in the 3-3 FA Cup draw with Horsham on 3 November, and is also now attracting the interest of Premier League clubs.

Leeds United

Romano said: "A good talent, still only 17 years old, impressing at Barnsley this season. There have been links with Leeds United and some Premier League clubs, but honestly I’m not aware of any concrete or advanced negotiations so far - just normal scouting.

"I expect that to be decided in a more clear way between December and January."

Move fast?

With TEAMtalk reporting on 6 November that Brighton, Everton and Fulham are all paying attention to developments around the young attacking midfielder it could be a heated competition come the New Year.

Whether the fact that Romano has only named the Whites in the equation suggests that they might be the most prominent of the clubs potentially minded to snap him up early isn't clear.

But as English sides increasingly look to find young talent from within the British Isles since Brexit affected the ability to bring in developing youngsters from further afield the Portugal under-19 international appears to be a consideration for a number of sides.

Leeds United

Leeds United are currently blessed with an array of talented wide men in the first-team squad, none of whom are exactly close to past it themselves.

Crysencio Summerville, 22, and Dan James, 25, have been outstanding of late, while Willy Gnonto, 19, and on-loan Jaidon Anthony, 23, have struggled to get a look in as a result.

So were Jalo to become a definite objective for the winter window or next summer he would no doubt be a long-term prospect for the under-21s, or perhaps even lower.

But the Whites have shown a clear willingness to stock up prospects in the academy in recent years so it would be no surprise if they continued to do so here.
