Leeds United look to be closing in on the signing of St Truiden's full-back Daiki Hashioka and Fabrizio Romano may have offered a strong omen the transfer will go through with a recent update.

The Italian transfer specialist reported via X on Sunday (28 January) that the defender has recently signed with a new agency, CAA Stellar, who also work with the likes of Patrick Bamford, Dan James and Joe Rodon at Elland Road.

This recent change could suggest that the 24-year-old only has eyes for a Leeds transfer this January, despite other clubs interested in this signature.

It is understood that Dinamo Zagreb and PAOK are interested in the defender, who has amassed almost 200 appearances between spells with Urawa Red Diamonds and St Truiden.

However, his desire to play in a "top five league" could sway him to join the Whites. With just two points separating Daniel Farke's side from the automatic promotion spots, Leeds could very much return to the Premier League next season, which would be a major selling point to Hashioka.

It was reported, as per HBVL, that negotiations between the Whites and the Jupiler Pro League side are well-advanced, suggesting a move could happen any day.

The Japan international could be a part of leading Elland Road back to the first division after their relegation in the previous campaign. And Hashioka is certainly the right fit for Farke's free-flowing Leeds side.

Although naturally a full-back, capable of deputising on either flank, he has recorded eight goals and 21 assists in 187 senior appearances. With the Leeds boss liking his defenders to be able to attack, like Junior Firpo, Hashioka would be the perfect fit.

Yet to fill the vacant spots left by Djed Spence and Luke Ayling, Leeds look to be edging ever closer to a January move for Hashioka from the Belgian league and Romano's latest social media will read as a strong omen that the announcement is just days away.
