Exclusive: Marseille striker Bamba Dieng open to Leeds United move after Saturday development
Marseille striker Bamba Dieng is open to moving to Leeds United this summer, according to Robin Bairner.
The freelance journalist who works for Goal.com and Football Transfers, exclusively told MOT Leeds News that the 22-year-old could see a switch to Elland Road as a good career move.
He is unlikely to get too many opportunities at the club this season and was left out of their game against Nantes on Saturday evening.
When asked if the Senegal international would fancy a move to Leeds, Bairner said, "Yeah.
"It could be a nice move for him.
"Looks like he won't get much of an opportunity to play at OM this season, which is a shame because he needs someone to show a bit of confidence in him."
This comes after Bairner took to Twitter to speak about his matchday snub.
He wrote, "Still no Bamba Dieng in the Marseille squad to play Nantes tonight.
"Opportunity for a club to pick up a raw but potentially excellent striker.
"He'll be a bit of a project, but the rewards could be huge."
Good move?
Leeds may have left it too late in the day to sign a new striker as they failed to have proper backups in place for Arnaud Kalimuendo and Charles De Ketelaere.
They may not have any other options left unless Victor Orta or Jesse Marsch put forward a player who will add value to this team.
It's important that they sign a player who will be an upgrade on Patrick Bamford and also has a relatively better fitness record as they cannot afford to bring in another injury-prone player.
The player seems keen on moving to the club and the onus is now on Leeds whether or not they submit an offer for the 22-year-old.
Dieng has previously been linked with a move to Leeds and Newcastle have pulled out of the race as well. [Irish Daily Star]
He had 10 goal involvements in 25 league games last season and that should be a number he must better on in the Premier League should he move to Leeds.
We're hoping the club have better options in mind, but if not, signing the Senegal international may not be the worst move in the world.
