Leeds United loanee Darko Gyabi has been called up for the England Under-21 squad for the first time, England have announced.

The national team confirmed [13 November] that a multitude of changes have taken place in a domino effect throughout the England squads over the November international break.

The 20-year-old, currently on a temporary stint at Plymouth Argyle, has been named in the U21 setup for upcoming contests with Spain and the Netherlands having originally been included in the U20 Elite League roster.

Leeds United loan ace given England nod

Gyabi, who has made five senior appearances for Leeds and has scored twice in 10 games for the Three Lions' U20s, has been given the nod with several U21 players called up to cover injuries in Lee Carsley's senior squad.

The call-up will come as music to the ears of a promising prospect who has played 26 times for Plymouth across two separate loan spells, including 16 outings this season.

Gyabi arrived at Leeds from Manchester City at the age of 18, making his senior debut against Wolves in the Carabao Cup in November 2022.

Talk has arisen in recent weeks of a potential recall in January for the midfielder, which would upset Wayne Rooney, with shortages in the squad which have since been plugged by the arrival of free agent Josuha Guilavogui.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, a summer target for Farke, as well as Norwich City defender Ben Chrisene have also made the step up to the U21s alongside Gyabi.
