Dominic Calvert-Lewin update shared on Sky Sports ahead of England match vs Czechia
Leeds United ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin is hoping for another England opportunity against Czechia.
Calvert-Lewin has had a wonderful start to the 2025/26 campaign for the Whites.
The 29-year-old has four goals across seven appearances in all competitions for Daniel Farke's side.
That form saw him included in Thomas Tuchel's squad for the combined September and October international break.
He had a short cameo in Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Spain at Wembley, replacing captain Harry Kane in the 83rd minute.
Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has now shared what might happen for Calvert-Lewin away at Czechia on Tuesday.
What got said about Leeds ace Calvert-Lewin's England chances?
Kane was on target but also missed missed a penalty as England went down to the world champions on Saturday.
As the 33-year-old is England's captain and all-time leading goalscorer, Kane always feels a shoo-in to startfor the Three Lions.
Calvert-Lewin's role is largely expected to be that of a back-up, with Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney not involved with this selection.
Dorsett was asked whether he expects Calvert-Lewin to get a big run out for England's second Nations League clash.
The Sky Sports reporter said live on air that there might be an opportunity for more game, but the chances of a lot of minutes feels unlikely.
He said: "I don't think he'll get a good run out. A lot will depend on how the game goes.
"Harry Kane will start the game because it's a game England need to win, and Harry Kane is the best striker in world football right now and challenging for the Ballon d'Or.
"Tuchel will try and get as many minutes out of him as he can. I thought it was interesting he said that he would try and play the same XI if he could and he's not even thinking about the next game, which isn't very far away, Saturday night in Croatia.
"He said we'll deal with that when we get to it, he's not going to try and save players for this game for that, which would indicate Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, and Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane will all start.
"But I don't think Harry Kane can play a full 90 minutes just three days after he's just played 80 minutes, so I do think Calvert-Lewin might get an opportunity
"But Thomas Tuchel's been doing things like putting Jude Bellingham as a false nine instead so it's not guaranteed, I think Dominic Calvert-Lewin might have to be a little bit patient."
Calvert-Lewin deserves an England run out
It's understandable that Tuchel wants to play what he perceives to be his best starting line-up for these games.
The German was heavily criticised for the way England were beaten in the semi-finals of the World Cup by Argentina.
And after they gave a 2-1 lead against Spain, the pressure is on to prove that he can get this England side over the line in big games.
That being said, strikers like Calvert-Lewin need time as well to display their talent, it's no good just sitting him on the bench and hoping he can make an impact in the limited minutes he gets.
Perhaps if England are looking in a strong position then that is what will transpire, but regardless the in-form striker needs time to show what he can do.
