Liverpool face the challenge of stopping Dominic Calvert-Lewin from scoring in the Premier League against Leeds United on Thursday.

Daniel Farke's team will travel to Anfield on 1 January, with the former Everton striker looking to score in his seventh consecutive game.

Liverpool were left disappointed at Elland Road on 6 December, with the Whites scoring a late equaliser in the 3-3 draw.

With the West Yorkshire outfit in decent form right now, it wouldn't be surprising to see them upset the Reds in Merseyside on New Year's Day.

Alan Shearer predicts Leeds United loss vs Liverpool

Alan Shearer has given Liverpool the edge over Leeds at Anfield despite Calvert-Lewin's red-hot form.

The Premier League icon feels the Whites will find it tougher against the Reds away from Elland Road, with their five-game unbeaten run coming to an end.

While Arne Slot's team haven't lost in their last six league matches, their performance against the likes of Wolves and Tottenham will undoubtedly give the Peacocks some hope.

Writing in the Metro on 30 December, Shearer said, "Calvert-Lewin has scored in six games on the spin, which is brilliant. But it’ll be tougher at Anfield, and for that reason, I am going to say home win."

The West Yorkshire outfit's in-form centre-forward could also prove Shearer's prediction wrong, and it would be foolish to count Farke's team out.

Calvert-Lewin is earning shouts for England's World Cup squad and will want to prove to Thomas Tuchel that he's ready to return to the national setup.

Leeds to repeat Anfield heroics four years on

Leeds are seen as the underdogs against Liverpool, but that may come back to bite the Merseyside outfit.

The last time the Whites travelled to Anfield in October 2022, they beat the Reds 2-1, with goals from Rodrigo and Crysencio Summerville.

While the Merseyside outfit's fans are among the fiercest, the travelling supporters will surely drown them out if Farke's team take an early lead.

An exciting game awaits fans in LS11, as they have the opportunity to take points from one of the Premier League's best teams once again.
