Leeds United were hit with the tragic news on Friday that Norman Hunter had died at the age of 76 after contracting Coronavirus.

There's been a huge outpouring of support from former players, fans and the club, with Leeds scarves being displayed in front of their houses in honour of the great man.

And it wasn't just Leeds fans either, with supporters from clubs across the UK and beyond coming together under the #scarvesoutfornorman.

Here's one from snowy Norway.

The BBC delivered their own tribute on Saturday on Football Focus, which was brilliant until the end when they used an image of Peter Lorimer next to Don Revie instead of Hunter.

It upset some Leeds fans who made their points on Twitter, with some tagging in presenter Dan Walker and the BBC.

We're surprised at the BBC – you'd think that something so sensitive would be checked thoroughly and not left to someone who could make a mistake like this.

However, it doesn't take anything away from the section on Football Focus, which was a beautiful tribute to one of the greatest players Leeds have ever seen. It's well worth seeking out on iPlayer if you didn't see it.

UPDATE: Dan Walker has made a heartfelt apology for the blunder and said it was down to the image being mis-labelled by Getty and the show being made in testing times. He also said Hunter 'would probably clip us round the ear' for it. He added that the piece is being edited for iPlayer. That's really good to see and we thank Walker and the BBC both for the tribute (which was brilliant) and for the apology.
