Data analyst spotted something you 'rarely see' in Leeds 2-0 loss v Cardiff

If games were decided on stats, Leeds United would already be in the Premier League. 

They've lost games they've dominated this season and they were at it again on Sunday, as highlighted by Mark Taylor who works for stats site InfoGol.

The Cardiff result was the last fair over the weekend by a country mile, with a 20% rating (100% being the most fair).

Leeds had an xG of 2.07, had 17 shots and didn't score. Cardiff had an xG of just 0.32 and scored twice from just seven shots.

Taylor said, "We rarely see a fairness rating much below 50 based on the xG of chances created and allowed. Take a bow #LUFC creating 2 xG, allowing next to nothing in return and still managing to lose 2-0."

This isn't the first time we've seen stats like this and they make for painful reading.

According to WyScout, we had a higher xG in the 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest (1.38 to 1.21) and the 1-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday (1.42 to 1.09).

It was even worse in the FA Cup game against Arsenal, with Bielsa's men losing 1-0 but coming out on top of the xG struggle 2.09 to 0.92.

It's an age-old tale for Bielsa's Leeds and it comes down to not having a clinical striker.

That's a problem for the summer now. For the next eight games, we have to hope that Patrick Bamford will come good and find his shooting boots.
