Darren Bent believes a "huge" club is set to miss out on promotion to the Premier League as Leeds United battle near the top of the Championship.

Daniel Farke's side are sitting third in the league table after 15 matches, placing them just two points behind Sunderland and Sheffield United at the top of the table.

The Whites were forced into the Championship play-offs last term, missing out on automatic promotion to Leicester City and Ipswich Town, and Farke is now under pressure to deliver promotion to Elland Road.

Speaking live via talkSPORT [11 November, 4:57pm], Bent said: "There is a huge club which isn't going up. You've got Sunderland, Sheffield United, Leeds, Burnley, West Brom, Watford are playing really well, and Middlesbrough up there...

"Norwich are fourteenth! Someone huge is not making it."

Leeds United to secure promotion back to the Premier League?

Leeds are in a brilliant position to secure promotion to the top tier of English football, though fans will not be getting too far ahead of themselves after last season.

Farke's players had plenty of chances to capitalise on slip-ups from both Leicester and Ipswich in the Championship before making mistakes of their own and failing to move up the table.

This campaign feels different, however, even with Leeds expected to be one of the teams to attain one of the automatic promotion spots because there is no clear front-runner this time around.

Of course, injuries to Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Largie Ramazani have done Farke absolutely no favours but Leeds have continued to impress in the league so far.

The Whites were on an eight-game unbeaten streak before losing 1-0 to Millwall but managed to get back to winning ways against QPR before heading into the international break.

It is shaping up to be an extremely exciting Championship promotion race, and Leeds will be hoping to be on the positive end of the race on this occasion.
