Daniel Farke to make Charlie Crew decision as Leeds United exit confirmed

Glen Kamara's exit has left Leeds United and Daniel Farke with an important position to fill ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The club confirmed [16 July] that the Finland international has joined Ligue 1 side Rennes for an undisclosed fee after just one season at Elland Road, flying under the radar with his performances.

Leeds' failure to win promotion back to the Premier League has seen many of the club's big names linked with moves away this summer, with Kamara being the latest to leave following Archie Gray's move to Tottenham.

Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto have all also been linked with exits before the transfer window closes next month.

While Farke still has the bulk of the squad at his disposal, holes are starting to appear in the manager's starting XI. And instead of diving back into the transfer market, he could explore a different avenue.

Thorp Arch has continued to develop new and exciting youngsters, some of whom are close to breaking through into the first team like Gray did last season.

As well as Charlie Crew, Gray's brother Harry is another player on fans' radars as the club head into their second consecutive Championship season.

Although Crew is yet to make his senior debut for the Whites, Rob Page handed the youngster his first international cap as Wales faced Gibraltar in a friendly in June, where he played 12 minutes.

He also put pen to paper on a brand-new deal, extending his stay at Elland Road until 2028 after appearing on the first-team bench on a handful of occasions [Leeds United].

The 18-year-old midfielder has been rising through the youth ranks at Leeds, as well as Wales, and has shown some promising signs.

Farke could take advantage of this and fill Kamara's spot for free rather than splash the cash on an uncertain transfer, which could be detrimental as the Whites aim for Premier League promotion again.

This time 12 months ago, nobody would have predicted Gray becoming one of the first names on the team-sheet and ultimately bringing in £40million to the club. The same could next be true of Crew.
