Dan James did something the Leeds United ace has never done before for Wales against Gibraltar on Wednesday (11 October), according to Iwan Roberts.

Speaking on BBC Radio Wales on Wednesday (via BBC Sport), the pundit said it's the first time he's seen the 25-year-old cut inside onto his left foot as he saw his shot hit the post following a superb long-range effort.

He added that the Welshman was "so unlucky" not to score as he starred in his country's 4-0 win after coming off the bench in the 15th minute for the injured Wes Burns in Wrexham.

"That's the first time I've seen Dan James cut in from the right onto his left foot, we've seen him do it plenty of times on his other foot," said Roberts.

"He's so unlucky there fair play, shame no one followed the shot in as it came off the post and bounced in the six-yard box."

Lively

It was an excellent performance from James as he really raised the tempo of the game after being brought on after just 15 minutes.

The Leeds winger hugged the left touchline, looking to beat his man and get balls into the box to Kieffer Moore as often as possible.

He recorded two assists in the first half to put his side in a commanding position before striking the post with a superb effort towards the end of the second half.

Leeds United

The Welshman looked full of confidence on the back of a decent start to the season with the Whites, having recorded four assists and scored his first goal of the campaign in the 2-1 win over Bristol City on Saturday (7 October).

He will now be hoping his performance against Gibraltar will lead to him being named in the starting lineup for the game against Croatia on Sunday (15 October).
