Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha faces three weeks out, set to miss Leeds United clash
Leeds United have been handed a major boost ahead of Saturday's game against Crystal Palace at Elland Road [9 April] with Eagles star Wilfried Zaha set to miss the game with a groin injury, according to The Sun.
The Eagles icon limped off in tears during their 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday (1 April) having pulled up with a groin problem.
The Daily Mail (2 April) reported on Sunday that the 29-year-old will undergo a scan on Monday (3 April) to determine the extent of his injury, with huge doubts over his fitness.
And according to those scans. as confirmed by The Sun [4 April], the Ivorian international will miss Saturday's game at Elland Road and is out for three weeks.
The scans reveal the injury is not as bad as first feared and he will still play a part in Palace's quest for Premier League survival.
Huge news
We already know how crucial Zaha is for Palace and how they are a better side with him in the team, but this news certainly hands Leeds United the impetus and confidence to go on and claim a huge three points on Saturday.
Palace are currently four points above Leeds United but have played an extra game already, and a win at Elland Road against them would do great things for the Whites' position, considering they also play Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night [4 April] giving them a huge opportunity to close the gap on their relegation rivals.
However, the Eagles still have quality options in their weaponry which the Whites must be wary of, including the likes of Ebere Eze and Michael Olise who are expected to be the future of the club when Zaha leaves in the near future.
It won't be an easy game for Leeds United one bit, but their chances of claiming a much-needed victory will significantly be boosted by Zaha's absence. Huge news in what could be a big week for the club.
