Beren Cross: Leeds v Aston Villa clash under 'huge threat'

Leeds United have been hit by a COVID-19 outbreak this week and have numerous positive cases in their side.

The Whites confirmed on Thursday that the Boxing Day trip to Liverpool had been postponed after a request was made to the Premier League.

Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross has now shared that the Aston Villa clash on the 28th of December is also under "huge threat."

The reliable journalist has shared on his personal Twitter account whether or not a formal decision has been made by the Premier League.

"A formal decision on the Villa game yet to be made, but given it's only two days later you'd have to expect that's under huge threat too," he wrote.

Given that Thorp Arch has been forced to close for a couple of days, Leeds likely won't be back in training until Boxing Day.

On top of that, isolation is now seven days, meaning that half of the squad will likely not be available to return once it opens anyway.

Injuries are also in double figures at Elland Road, so Thorp Arch may open in a couple of days time, but it may only be the medical room that is busy.

We don't see the game against Villa going ahead at all, Steven Gerrard has already been complaining about the number of games.

There won't be many complaints from the midlands club or the Whites should the Elland Road showdown be cancelled.
