Sam Parkin has been thrilled with the impact Joel Piroe has had this season as Leeds United beat Southampton to sign him from Swansea.

The Athletic reported in August that both the EFL rivals were keen on signing the Dutch forward this summer.

In the end, Leeds won the race to secure his services and he's enjoying a good start to life at Elland Road.

Parking, a BBC pundit told the  ‘What the EFL?’ podcast “His two touches are beautiful (first goal against Millwall). He and Rutter are going to have a great partnership. The finish when you’re moving like that are the signs of a top quality marksman. I think he’s very, very good. I thought he would have immediately thrown Southampton into a different stratosphere had he gone there, as I think he’s a brilliant signing.”

Top drawer acquisition

Leeds desperately needed a new striker this summer as they couldn't go into the new season with Patrick Bamford as their first choice.

With Rodrigo leaving too, they lost their most reliable goal scorer and it was imperative that he was replaced properly.

A lot of questions were asked about Georginio Rutter and even if Daniel Farke rated him, someone proven in the Championship was needed.

Piroe has hit the ground running and has been a breath of fresh air for the Whites this season.

Many expected him to be the number nine but he's played slightly deeper and it is still managing to get himself on the scoresheet.

This is also seeing Rutter thrive and if they build a good rapport they may well score over 30 league goals among themselves this season.
