BBC journalist Adam Pope has revealed that Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa is two cautions away from a touchline ban in the Championship.

Bielsa picked up his second yellow card of the season during the Whites' 1-0 win against Middlesbrough on Wednesday.

Pope himself shared that it was because the South American had too many of his backroom staff in the technical area around him in the second half of the game.

Pope responded to a fan who had pointed out that Bielsa has three bookings this season compared to Berardi who has yet to receive a yellow.

The BBC man shared that one of those came in the League Cup so Bielsa is still two cautions away from a touchline ban in West Yorkshire.

"Being pedantic it's two Championship cautions for Marcelo and one in the League Cup," he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

"If he were to collect four Championship cautions it would mean a one-match touchline ban."

Yes, it would come across as a massive blow to not have Bielsa down at pitchside, but if you take a closer look, he has a very tight-knit group behind him.

Most of the instructions and tactical switches are made by his staff after his demands, so not much would change despite the help of technology in the stands should he pick up another two bookings.

It takes a lot for officials to caution a manager or head coach, but with the amount of staff he has around him, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Bielsa sanctioned in games from now till the end of the season.
