Angus Kinnear has confirmed that Leeds United will be completing the redevelopment of the Elland Road pitch after this season.

The playing surface has come under scrutiny during recent months, with the quality of the pitch not up to the standard that we have expected.

Kinnear claimed that the surface was meant to be changed before this season, but that there wasn't enough time before the start of the Premier League.

Speaking in the pre-match programme notes for the Brighton clash on Saturday, Kinnear shared that no criticism should be thrown at the current groundsman staff.

"The process will start in the summer with the key element, a full reconstruction of the Elland Road playing surface," he wrote.

"The current Elland Road surface received justifiable criticism last year. However, the criticism should not be levelled at our head groundsman Kiel or his excellent staff."

The pitch has definitely become a massive talking point this season.

It hasn't been in the best condition, and it appears that everybody at Leeds have started to notice that around the club - something they have reacted proactively too.

Andrea Radrizzani hasn't stopped taking the club forward just because of promotion to the Premier League, and he is wanting to continue the growth.

After the floodlights and media facilities were upgraded, the pitch appears to be the next stage at Elland Road before eventually expanding the capacity.

This is another sign of Radrizzani's commitment to the cause, and we can't wait to see the finished product in the Premier League next season - when, fingers crossed, we can return.
