Andy Townsend believes it's going to be difficult for Leicester City to rediscover their form as they look to battle it out with Leeds United and Ipswich Town for promotion.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (1 April, 08:28am), the pundit said it's "going to be some battle" as the three sides are separated by just two points at the top of the Championship table.

He added that the Foxes are going to have to "get their foot to the floor" as they look to get back to winning ways, while the Whites will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run when they take on Hull City on Monday at Elland Road.

"When your form and momentum starts to go, it's difficult to get it back," said Townsend when asked about Leicester's recent results.

"It's going to be some battle that. We keep talking about the battle for the Premier League, but that battle at the top of the Championship is equally as riveting and exciting. But Leicester have got to get their foot to the floor again now."

Leicester City must rediscover form in promotion battle with Leeds United

It's been an extremely disappointing past few weeks for Leicester after they have thrown away what seemed to be an insurmountable lead at the top of the table.

But Leeds have kept chipping away and managed to leapfrog them into the automatic promotion spots, with the Foxes falling down to third.

While the Whites were on top for a couple of weeks, Ipswich became the new league leaders following their 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday (30 March).

Although Daniel Farke's side could find themselves outside of the top two by the time they kick off against Hull on Monday night, they will be confident of maintaining their unbeaten run at Elland Road.

The German boss will no doubt be emphasising the importance of his squad remaining disciplined and focusing solely on their own results after he's previously been involved in promotion battles.
