Ally McCoist questions Jurgen Klopp after Leeds incident v Liverpool

Ally McCoist has questioned Jurgen Klopp after Harvey Elliott's crushing injury in the clash with Leeds United.

The game was overshadowed by the ankle injury, which saw Pascal Struijk sent off despite no foul initially being given.

McCoist insisted it was never a bad tackle, and that Klopp should have been more sympathetic with the "distraught" Whites ace.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday morning, McCoist wasn't impressed with what he saw from the Liverpool boss.

"I think Klopp could have been a bit better with the Leeds player," he said.

"Obviously the main thing is the injury to Harvey Elliott and we wish him a speedy recovery - but it wasn't a bad tackle, it wasn't a red card. It was awkward, that's all it was. That guy clearly will be distraught over what's happened.

"But, come on, let's just clear the issue up straight away - it wasn't a bad tackle."

Ethics.

Yes, it was a shocking injury and not one person in Elland Road would have wished that on anyone, but what followed was nearly as bad.

A foul wasn't given, and then all of a sudden Struijk is sent off despite winning the ball - showing that it was only given due to the injury.

As well as that, Klopp was on the pitch speaking to the referee beforehand, and that should never be allowed to happen, no matter what injury has happened.

The whole situation was managed terribly, and there was no sympathy for Elliott or Struijk - two young players who didn't deserve anything that happened.

McCoist is spot on with his verdict, and everyone involved outside of those two should likely take a long, hard look at themselves in the aftermath, this wasn't about them.
