Joe Rodon is on the comeback trail for Leeds United.

The Wales defender sustained a hamstring injury in Leeds' second Premier League game of the season, a 1-1 draw with Brentford at Elland Road.

Rodon has consequently been sidelined since the end of August, Daniel Farke's side playing strongly in his absence.

The 28-year-old was initially ruled out for between eight to 10 weeks when he first went down with injury.

Farke was asked on Friday how Rodon's recovery was going when previewing Leeds' Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday.

The German said he is still out for now, but that he is edging closer, something that Adam Pope thinks will produce an interesting scenario at Leeds.

Daniel Farke to have imminent Leeds dilemma

Rodon's injury left Farke needing to juggle things around in Leeds' defence.

Farke opted to go with James Justin on the right of a back three, and the former Leicester City man has excelled in the role.

More at home as a full-back or wing-back traditionally, Justin has put in a string of outstanding performances.

Rodon returning would obviously strengthen Leeds' squad, but he may face a battle to regain his starting berth.

BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Pope alluded to such when he spoke about the update on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast.

Pope said: "He said he's been sort of like almost impressed by (Rodon) not playing, you know he's that sort of guy.

"So, I thought that was quite interesting, he's getting closer now which is going to make it really interesting probably in a month's time as to who's going to take those three central defensive berths, isn't it?"

A welcome head for Daniel Farke at Leeds

It is tough to imagine right now that Justin comes out of Leeds' starting XI.

He has been absolutely outstanding for the Whites, and was on target in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.

Having Rodon back will be a welcome boost, though, especially the closer we get to hectic festive season where the games come thick and fast.

These are the kind of selection dilemmas you want your team to have, though, and you can guarantee Farke will welcome it.
