Adam Pope expects Ben White to return in a back three against Leeds United

BBC journalist Adam Pope expects Ben White to return to a back three for Brighton's game against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

The former Leeds loanee has been a mainstay in Graham Potter's team this season, playing in all but two games.

He's predominantly featured in the heart of defence, in a back three or a back four, but has also been deployed in midfield.

Recently, White faced the ignominy of being sent off after winning the Man of the Match against Chelsea.

He received two yellow cards in injury time and sat out the weekend defeat to Sheffield United.

Now with him available to face Leeds, on his Twitter handle, Pope said that he expects White to slot into the back three alongside Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster.

Interesting reunion

It's no secret that Bielsa wanted to sign the English centre-back permanently last summer, but looking at how well he fared for us in the Championship last season, Graham Potter and the Brighton board decided to retain his services.

He's been a vital cog in Potter's machine and has played a big role in restricting their xGA (Expected Goals Against) to 34.51 - the third lowest in the league after Manchester City and Chelsea.

He started the reverse game at Elland Road when we lost 1-0 to a solitary Neil Maupay goal despite dominating proceedings.

White played in midfield that day alongside Pascal Gross but is now likely to return to his familiar centre-back position.

It'll be interesting to see him go up against the likes of Patrick Bamford, Jack Harrison and Raphinha if fit.

Hopefully, we can register another victory and carry on in the right direction towards our quest for European football.
