Simon Wood shares ‘delighted’ verdict after Leeds United Women win v Cheadle Town

Simon Wood was left “delighted” after Leeds United Women got a 3-2 away win against Cheadle Town on Sunday (6 October).

The Whites have been in stellar form lately, winning three of their last four games across all competitions.

Speaking to the Official Leeds United Website (7 October), the manager shared his thoughts on the game.

“Really good three points against a team that, over the past few seasons haven’t lost many games so we knew today would be tough,” Wood said.

“They’ve come up from the league below this season and they’ve been getting results and you can see from how hard we’ve had to dig in today why they get results.

“There will be a lot of teams that come here this year that will find it a very difficult place to come so I’m delighted to get the three points and just delighted by the performance from everyone involved”.

Leeds United Women back to winning ways

The Whites are second in the FA Women’s National League Division One North, just one point adrift of league leaders, Middlesbrough.

Boro have been a bogey team for the club since the start of the season with two of their three losses this term coming thanks to Michael Mulhern’s squad.

In their clash with Durham Cestria, the Whites let the game run down to the wire before Jess Rousseau bagged a brace that sent Leeds 4-2 up.

Although Woods’ team finds themselves second in the table, no game has been easy for them, especially at this level.

Leeds United fans
Leeds fans do not like Chelsea.

In fact, Drew Green even shared that their game against Halifax Women on 28 August was “never easy” despite them cruising to a 2-0 victory.

Their win against Cheadle Town will have boosted spirits and fans will be hoping they can string together a few results and try to take the top spot in the league and gain promotion.
