Leeds United Women: Simon Wood’s ‘disappointing’ admission can only be a positive
Leeds United Women returned to winning ways with a convincing 4-1 victory over their Chorley counterparts at the weekend.
The three points were much welcomed on the back of a 5-4 reverse at the hands of United of Manchester in the previous league outing.
Indeed, that was a first win in four Women’s National League outings for the Whites, who currently occupy fifth place.
While the win was the most important aspect, head coach Simon Wood admitted he was disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet.
“We were in control towards the end so it was disappointing to concede a goal, but to score four times is also pleasing,” he told LUTV [14 April].
“The players have worked hard in testing conditions. The wind was all over the place in the first half but it’s pleasing to take the three points.”

The fact that Wood was still not entirely pleased despite a three-goal margin of victory can only be a positive for Leeds going forward.
Wood is demanding perfection from his side and rightly felt that they should have seen through the 90 minutes without conceding.
United have struggled defensively of late, having now shipped 11 goals in their most recent six matches, keeping only one clean sheet.

Scoring more freely has been a big boost, with 16 netted at the opposite end during that same six-game run.
The aim now is to balance both aspects in order to turn narrow losses or draws – and there have been a few of those lately – into wins.
Wood will continue demanding more from his side in the hope that these final three games can prove a springboard for next season.
