Leeds United Women secure full-back transfer from league rivals
Leeds United Women have secured the signing of Ria Montgomery from Huddersfield Town.
Leeds announced Simon Wood’s first signing of the January transfer window as the Whites look to carry on their impressive campaign in the second half of the season.
The full-back joins from Huddersfield Town who sit just three points behind Leeds in the table meaning this is a strong bit of business from the West Yorkshire outfit from their Yorkshire rivals.

The Whites have had an impressive campaign so far and find themselves sitting third in the league, a point off Chorley in the top spot with a game in hand.
Therefore, it’s no surprise to see Wood eager to make additions to his side this January with the hope of being able to keep up the momentum in the second part of the term and push his side towards the top of the table.
Furthermore, securing a signing from local rivals Huddersfield who are close to Leeds in the table shows that the Whites are going for it this term, especially bringing in a player who has made over 100 appearances for the Terriers.

The 25-year-old is a full-back but also has a strong scoring record with 10 goals to her name during the 2021/22 season meaning the Whites could take advantage of her talent at both ends of the pitch.
Montgomery is available to start for Leeds straightaway and could be involved against Middlesbrough on Sunday (12 January) as the Whites look to get back to winning ways in 2025.
